PROFESSIONAL HISTORY -
Gustavo has more than 20 years of experience in Sports Law. He worked as Legal Executive Director of two major Brazilian football teams.
Clube de Regatas Vasco da Gama, between 2013 and 2014, and Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense from 2005 to 2008 and between 2011 and 2012.
While working as Executive at Grêmio, he was one of the leaders in the creation of its Extrajudicial Reorganization Plan and in the development of “Arena do Grêmio” project (Grêmio’s stadium), working on club’s land legalization areas, planning and revision of all associative norms for adapting club’s members to the new stadium, brands licensing and project finance.
At the time he worked for Vasco he participated in the transaction with Brazilian Federal Governament, allowing the regularisation of all club’s federal tax liabilities.
He assisted players and clubs on several players negotiations with clubs in Europe, Asia and Middle East.
Because of his background as an executive and attorney, Gustavo Pinheiro received many invitations for lectures at seminars and congresses of Sports Law in Brazil and abroad.
He published articles in international magazines and was also a teacher of postgraduate courses. Besides that, he was the president of Special Commission of Legislation and Sports Law for the Brazilian bar association – RS (OAB/RS) and vice president of the 1st Disciplinary Commission of STJD for football (CBF), and also an auditor of the high court on STJD for Basketball (CBB).
